Our Services
The infusion area is designed to foster health and wellness under the direct supervision of a qualified, well-trained nursing staff. Equipped to handle six patients at one time, our service offers flexible options to stagger patients throughout the day. The room is equipped with 6 recliners, 4 televisions with head sets and all the amenities to make for a private, safe and comfortable area.

The Team
Under the direction of the certified infusion nurse, this 4–6 patient area provides individualized infusion services to patients without hospitalization. We provide a full range of infusion therapies and services to pediatric and adult patients. Medications will be prepared at the time the patient order is received and treatment is scheduled. We have an experienced clinical team of staff, including a chemotherapy certified nurse, pharmacists and physicians who provide compassionate care in the coordination of your infusion therapy needs. We are proud to have certified:

• Nurse clinicians with backgrounds in oncology, hematology and nutrition support
• Clinical pharmacists available who can provide therapeutic drug monitoring
• Registered dieticians who can provide consultation on patients

Our infusion area provides the following therapies:

• Blood Transfusions
• Phlebotomy
• Intravenous Antibiotics
• Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
• Immunoglobulin Therapy (IVIG)
• Pain Management
• Chemotherapy
• Remicade
• Anti-Infective Therapy (Antifungal, Antiviral)
• Hemophilia Factor Products
• Hydration

Additional therapies will be added upon request and referral from physicians.

Who Can Be Treated in Our Infusion Area?
Patients who may be appropriate for Infusion Services may have one or more of the following disease states:

• Primary Immune Deficiencies
• Bleeding Troubles
• Infectious Disease
• Auto-Immune Disorders
• Transplant
• Cancer

How to Make a Referral

• Short form history and physical
• Patient name, address, date of birth, telephone number
• Diagnosis indicating need for infusion therapy and start date for therapy
• Current medications
• IV access type
• Insurance authorization approval

Saddleback Memorial Medical Center Privileges for Referral of Invasive Procedures
Practitioners who have current privileges and are members of the Saddleback Memorial Medical Center medical staff may write orders for any invasive procedure currently requiring a short form H&P at any SMMC location, i.e., Infusion Care (Hospital/OutPt), Radiation Oncology, MRI with Contrast, etc.
