Radiology is the study of disease through imaging. Diagnostic radiology is a medical specialty which evolved shortly after the discovery of x-rays by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895. The early radiologists were trained in the use of x-rays for both diagnosis and treatment of disease. In the last 30 years, we have witnessed the development of nuclear medicine including ultrasound, CT scanning, and MRI. These newer imaging methods allow physicians to visualize regions of the body previously accessible only through exploratory surgery. The use of imaging helps physicians to better understand medical conditions prior to treatment.

Orange Coast Memorial is pleased to offer radiological excellence in imaging services, with a team of physicians and technicians who have specialized training and licensure in numerous radiological procedures.

We are also pleased to offer high-quality CT and ultrasound procedures using a 16 Multi-slice CT Scanner. This scanner is a multi-channel spiral CT scanner which is 16 times faster than a single channel spiral CT and allows imaging of the body within a single breath hold. This technology allows efficient appointment scheduling and helps us to ensure that our patients are treated in as timely a manner as possible. In addition, the 16 Multi-slice CT Scanner is specifically designed to minimize patient radiation exposure.
