A message from our Medical Director: Robert A. Nagourney, MD
I have spent my entire career developing new ways to treat cancer. Recognizing that each patient is unique, I have worked to develop methods that match patients to available therapies. Today, I use these approaches to tailor chemotherapy combinations to individual patients using laboratory techniques that my colleagues and I have invented. Many treatments for advanced breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lymphoma and other diagnoses in wide use today were first developed and tested at our center. As reported on CNN, World News Tonight and most recently in the Wall Street Journal, our individualized cancer treatments are changing the way the medical community thinks about cancer. My hope is to make this approach available to every cancer patient so as to provide the best possible outcome with the fewest possible side effects and toxicities. Respecting the dignity and importance of every patient, I have dedicated my career to advancing cancer research one patient at a time. It is an honor to be granted the opportunity to help to save the life of a cancer patient. I work every day to meet that challenge.
