Anaheim Memorial offers outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy services, including a lymphedema treatment program.

Physical Therapy
Our physical therapy department emphasizes an overall recovery of the individual in the shortest time, while providing closely monitored care. Our programs are primarily exercise-based, but we also offer therapeutic modalities, including:

  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Ultrasound
  • Iontophoresis

Our physical therapists are skilled in manual therapies, such as joint mobilization and soft tissue mobilization.

Who Can Benefit From Physical Therapy?

  • Lymphedema patients
  • Post-surgical patients (e.g. joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic procedures)
  • Patients with various orthopedic conditions as a result of an injury, poor posture and improper body mechanics, including back, neck, shoulder and lower extremity pain and/or dysfunction
  • Survivors of accidents, including car crashes and work-related injuries
  • Arthritis patients seeking pain relief and increased joint range of motion
  • Patients with paralysis, paraplegia or hemiplegia
  • Employees returning to work after an injury
  • Cancer patients seeking relief from discomfort
  • Patients with balance disturbances
  • Those with non-healing wounds or burns
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is a health and rehabilitation service that helps individuals of all ages who, because of physical, developmental, social or emotional problems, need specialized assistance to lead more productive, independent and satisfying lives. Occupational Therapy services include:
  • Fabrication of custom splints
  • Massage, positioning and bandaging edematous (swollen) extremities
  • Myofascial release
  • Scar massage and remodeling
  • Wound care
  • Upper extremity coordination and strengthening
  • Infant positioning and feeding
  • Retraining activities of daily living skills such as dressing, eating, bathing, grooming and meal preparation; time and stress management; cognitive tasks and community re-entry

Speech Therapy
Our speech-language pathologists provide a variety of services aimed at helping adults and children develop and improve functional skills to treat the following conditions:

  • Difficulty swallowing as a result of illness, surgery, stroke or injury
  • Articulation disorders – to learn proper production of speech sounds
  • Voice disorders
  • Developmental language disorders
  • Wound care
  • Aphasia – to re-learn language and speech skills
  • Stuttering – to learn techniques for more fluent speech
  • Severe speech disorders requiring augmentative and alternative communication systems
  • Dyslexia
Our speech-language pathologist all hold a Master’s Degree and have earned the Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. They are also licensed to practice by the California State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology.
